Yoru no Kumo Katana

The Yoru no Kumo (Night Spider) Katana is an outstanding example of Japanese design tradition meeting contemporary master craftsmanship. This katana is at the premium level and is aimed at those who seek the very best, whether you are a collector, practitioner or admirer of functional art.

The blade is forged from T10 steel with a beautiful, authentic hamon created through traditional clay hardening. It is extremely sharp and durable, and ready for both cutting tests and visual admiration.

The handle is wrapped in deep blue cotton fabric over genuine stingray skin (samegawa) with a wooden core, a construction that provides a stable grip, long durability and authentic feel. The sword is of course full tang, meaning the blade runs through the entire handle for maximum strength.

The sageon is made of thick cotton and maintains the same deep blue tone as the handle wrap, creating visual harmony against the dark saya which is covered in a unique, matte lacquer. This surface treatment gives an almost electric impression, as if the night sky itself has been encapsulated in the wood.

The saya is reinforced with cow horn details at the kojiri, koiguchi and kurigata: a rare and exclusive feature that further enhances the overall look.

The tsuba and other fittings are made of beautifully aged brass and copper. The tsuba bears a detailed relief pattern of cranes, flowers and flying birds, a symbol of peace and eternity. The kashira (the end of the handle) also has an elegant metal pattern, which completes the overall look of the sword.
