Black Scale is an exclusive samurai sword where traditional Japanese forging meets dark, powerful aesthetics. The sword is built around an advanced folding steel blade, forged in several layers to create both strength, flexibility and a vibrant pattern in the steel. The combination of deep black saya with hand-painted dragon, horn inlays and copper details gives Black Scale an uncompromising premium feel, a sword as much for the collector as for those who appreciate genuine craftsmanship.
Blade
The blade is made of folded steel and has undergone repeated folding during the forging process . Each fold refines the structure of the steel, reduces impurities and builds up a complex layer-on-layer pattern that becomes visible in the blade's surface. This is a time-consuming craft that requires high precision and experience, and is a clear marker of a sword in the higher quality class.
The blade is also clay-tempered , which creates a wavy hamon pattern along the edge. The clay-tempering creates a hard edge for sharpness and durability, while the spine remains more flexible, a classic Japanese method that combines function and aesthetics. Each hamon is unique and cannot be reproduced exactly.
Tsuba + Tsuka
The tsuba and fittings are made of copper , richly decorated with motifs that harmonize with the dark theme of the sword. The tsuba is wrapped in black ito over genuine samegawa (stingray leather), which provides both a secure grip and a traditional visual expression. The kashira and other metal details follow the same elaborate style and contribute to the overall impression of a solidly crafted sword.
Saya
The Saya is hand-painted with a powerful dragon motif , where each brushstroke contributes to a unique expression. The koiguchi, kurigata and kojiri are made with horn inlays , which both enhances durability and highlights the sword's premium character. The black lacquer in combination with the painted details creates a deep, elegant contrast that makes the Black Scale visually striking even in resting position.
