Dragonfly is an elegant yet technically advanced katana where aesthetics and forging meet at a high level. The sword combines traditional craftsmanship with a unique visual expression, from the unusual hamon of the blade to the glittering saya and distinctive tsuba.
Blade
The blade is made of T10 steel and has undergone advanced clay hardening , resulting in an unusual and eye-catching X-shaped hamon pattern . This type of hamon is very difficult to achieve and requires precise temperature control, skillful application of clay and great experience on the part of the smith.
The hamon runs clearly along the blade and gives a unique character, no two swords are exactly alike. The blade is hand-ground and polished in several stages to highlight both the hamon contrasts and the structure of the steel.
Tsuba, Tsuka & Fittings
The tsuba is one of Dragonfly's most distinctive features. It has an open and geometrically balanced design where the shapes create an airy yet powerful impression. Motifs and lines are inspired by the wings and movement of the dragonfly, which gives the tsuba both symbolism and visual lightness despite its robust construction.
All fittings are made of copper , which provides a warm contrast to the dark and glittering overall impression. The tsuka is wrapped in black ito over genuine samegawa and provides a stable and comfortable grip, while harmonizing with the sword's more expressive details.
Saya
The saya has a glittering finish that subtly catches the light and gives a deep, almost star-like expression. It is equipped with horn inlays in koiguchi, kurigata and kojiri , which both enhance durability and highlight the sword's high level of quality. The combination of horn, lacquer and glitter makes the saya a distinct artistic feature rather than simply a protector for the blade.
