Emerald Ivy Tanto is an elegant and well-balanced tanto with a distinctly classic expression. The blade is made through a process that consists of folding the steel several times, which creates a vibrant, subtle pattern along the blade surface. The black saya is decorated with hand-painted bamboo motifs in gold tone and horn kurigata, which together give an exclusive and traditional look. A tanto that combines craftsmanship, aesthetics and function in a compact format.
The blade is made of industrial folded steel, where several layers of steel are joined together to create the characteristic wave-shaped structure. The layer structure is metallurgically consistent and gives the blade its vibrant pattern, not a superficial etching.
The steel is oil-quenched to achieve a uniform and stable hardening throughout the blade. This provides a balanced combination of strength and durability, while the visual layer structure clearly appears in the polish.
