Hidden Gem is a katana with a subdued yet distinctive expression. At first glance, it is dark and restrained, but the blue tone of the blade and the subtle details quickly reveal why it bears its name. The sword combines decorative finishes with a traditional shape.
Blade
The blade is made of T10 steel and has a hardness of around 60 HRC.
The blade has a blue finish , produced through heat treatment, which provides a deeper and more unique visual expression than traditional polished steel. The color varies subtly along the blade depending on the light and angle.
Along the back (mune) is a stone pattern , a decorative surface finish that gives the blade a rawer and more organic impression. Stone pattern is a visual element and should not be confused with hamon or heat treatment.
The back of the blade is also provided with decorative filework , which enhances the sense of craftsmanship and provides additional structure.
Tsuba + Tsuka
The tsuba has a dragon motif and is made with copper as the base metal , which provides a warm contrast to the blue blade. The other fittings are also copper-based and have a lightly patinated finish that harmonizes with the overall look.
The handle (tsuka) is wrapped with black ito over genuine stingray leather , in a traditional diamond pattern. The construction is stable and provides a secure grip.
Saya
Sayan is made of lacquered wood with a dark, stone-like surface texture. The finish is discreet but vibrant, with small variations that give a natural and toned-down expression.
The sageo is black and tied in a classic style, matching the color and texture of the saya.
