Mystic Mist is a katana that combines elegance and power in an expression inspired by mist-shrouded mountains and mythical creatures from Japanese folklore. The deep blue tsuka and partially stingray skin wrapped saya create a visual contrast against the wavy hamon line as if the blade is cutting through morning mist.
Blade
The blade is forged from folded steel, where the steel has been repeatedly folded and joined to create a vibrant pattern with depth and movement in the structure. This process requires great precision and experience, as each fold affects both the pattern image and the mechanical properties of the material.
After forging, the blade has undergone advanced clay tempering. By covering parts of the blade with clay before hardening, a differentiated structure is created in the steel, a hard edge and wear resistance, and a tougher back for flexibility and durability. The result is a clear and naturally varying hamon that highlights the artisanal character of the blade.
Finally, the blade is finely polished by hand in several stages to highlight both the folded pattern and the hamon line. The combination of folding steel, traditional clay hardening and meticulous hand grinding results in a blade that combines aesthetics, function and exclusive craftsmanship in every detail.
Tsuba + Tsuka
The fittings are themed around mythical creatures, crafted in copper with contrasting tone details. The tsuba is richly sculpted and provides a dramatic expression while offering solid hand protection.
The tsuka is wrapped in blue cotton over genuine white samegawa (stingray leather), providing both aesthetic contrast and a secure grip. Underneath the wrapping are detailed menuki with motifs that harmonize with the sword's mythical theme.
Saya
The Saya is black with partially wrapped blue stingray skin that gives it a misty, almost cosmic look. It is combined with blue/white sageo that enhances the color theme of the sword. The finish is deep and glossy, giving an elegant overall impression.
