Thunder Struck Katana – Clay-Tempered T10 with Super Mirror Finish
Thunder Struck is a katana that combines power and movement. The deep black saya with a hand-painted motif creates a dramatic contrast to the bright hamon line on the blade like lightning cutting through the night sky. The design combines traditional Japanese form with a more contemporary expression.
The blade
The blade is forged from T10 high carbon steel and polished in several stages to achieve a super high bright finish , an extremely bright and mirror-like polish that provides maximum reflection and a clean, high-contrast expression.
The blade is clay-hardened (differentially hardened) , which creates a visible hamon line along the edge. The hardened edge provides high sharpness and wear resistance, while the back retains a more tough structure for a better balance between strength and durability.
The mirror-clear surface makes the hamon stand out clearly in the light, enhancing the “lightning-like” character that defines Thunder Struck.
Tsuba + Tsuka
The tsuba and fittings are made of black metal with an open ornamental pattern that gives an airy but powerful feel. The tsuba is hineri-maki wrapped in dark blue ito over genuine samegawa (stingray skin). The fittings are carefully crafted to create a whole where metal, textile and wood interact harmoniously.
Saya
The Saya is lacquered in a deep black tone with a hand-painted motif inspired by classic Japanese iconography. The high-gloss finish enhances the motif's contrasts and gives it a vivid depth.
The Sageo is dark blue and discreet to keep the focus on the expression of the blade and the saya. The whole gives a powerful and controlled impression like a storm gathering on the horizon.
